ART-IST wurde ins Leben gerufen, um die unkonventionelle Realisierung von Kunstprojekten zu fördern. Es sollen räumliche und geistige Barrieren überschritten werden - Kunst darf nicht durch äußere Umstände eingeschränkt werden. ART-IST ist ein Transportsystem, das darauf verzichtet, Kunst in Definitionen einzufangen. ART-IST versteht sich als Austauschzentrale für interdisziplinäre und kulturübergreifende Projekte. Der Kunstverein ART-IST realisiert eigene Projekte, verwirklicht aber auch die Ideen anderer KünstlerInnen, kümmert sich um Organisation, Veranstaltungsdesign, Präsentation und Promotion.
